At our core we are a Chinese Medicine informational website. We are also working towards building and supporting the larger Chinese Medicine community. In addition to freely sharing a broad array of foundational and modern Chinese Medicine theories, research and applications, we aim to connect Chinese Medicine practitioners with each other along with their respective schools and state associations.

  • Heat in the lungs and chest, cough, asthma, chest pain, mentioned classically for whooping cough (use cupping).
  • Supporting point for chronic conditions affecting the lungs, for deficiency asthma, exhaustion from deficient Lung qi.
  • Used for strengthening deficiencies and promoting strong development in children, epilepsy.
  • Classically noted for "seeing ghosts" and "rage with desire to kill" (deadman text) -  which can indicate a range of stronger modern psychological issues such as schizophrenia, manic depression, bipolar depression.  It does this by clearning excess heat from heart and lungs (i.e. chest), which can lead to an unsettled spirit.

TCM Herb of the Day

Reed Rhizome (Lu Gen)lu gen (reed rhizome)
  • Clears heat, generates fluids - heat patterns with high fever, irritability, thirst.
  • Clears lung heat - cough, thick yellow sputum.
  • Clears stomach heat - vomiting, belching.
  • Clears heat, diuretic - dark, scanty urine, xue lin, accompanied by thirst and irritability.
  • Encourages rashes to the surface - for febrile disease with rashes that are incompletely expressed.

TCM Formula of the Day

Aucklandia, Amomi & Six Gentlemen Pills (Xiang Sha Liu Jun Zi Wan)dang shen (codonopsis root)
  • A modified version of the base, zhi zhu wan, which is used to treat qi stagnation and food retention from qi deficiency.  This modification includes herbs which add more movement and damp drying.
  • Distention and fullness in the epigastric area - bloating, indigestion, gastritis, gastric prolapse.
  • Poor appetite (from Spleen Qi Deficiency), anorexia.
